The Importance Of Choosing The Right Credit Card
There are literally thousands of credit cards out there all claiming to be the best with an array of exciting features to attract you. The most important thing about choosing the right credit card is that it should suit your needs perfectly. There are certain things you have to do before applying for a credit card and the one that tops this priority list is to be well informed about every aspect of credit cards. There is plenty of information available on the net. Make sure you upgrade your credit card information by learning about credit card companies, their fees; annual percentage rates (APRs), liabilities, grace periods, payback schedules, rewards etc. Visiting the credit card company website and looking at their applications and solicitations will give you all the data you need to know about them.
There are different kinds of cards offered by credit card companies.
* Secured Cards: These need a security deposit and the higher the deposit the higher the credit limit. This type of card is offered to people who have had earlier problems with credit or who are starting out.

* Regular Cards: These do not need any security deposit and have a higher limit than secured cards but lower limits than Premium cards.
* Premium Cards: These are usually gold, platinum and titanium cards that offer high credit limits. They have features like travel insurance, product warranties, emergency services etc.
Incentives are offered by credit card companies to use their card. These are "money back" rebates, "frequent flyer miles", additional coverage/warranty for purchases, insurance for car rentals, Insurance for travel accidents, discounts that are travel related, a credit card registration that helps if your purse or wallet is stolen or lost and you have to report the loss of credit cards, etc.
Some credit cards also offer insurance (for a price) that covers payments on your credit balance if you by some chance become disabled, unemployed or even die! They also offer insurance that covers the 1st $50 of charges in case of theft or loss of your credit card. You are not held responsible for any charges over $50 under federal law. However, think carefully and decide whether these features would be useful for you before you sign up or pay for them.
Consideration of the following is a must before applying for a credit card:
The reason for wanting/needing a credit card: You may need a credit card with good interest rates to transfer balances from other accounts, or for business purposes. You may also need a credit card to avail of the rewards, rebates or flyer miles etc.
What are your spending limits: You may need a credit card for business purposes only which means that the card can have high or no spending limits. On the other hand, if you just want a credit card for emergencies or to build credit, you will need one with a low or modest spending limit.
What is your payment plan: According to your decision as to whether you want to pay back the full balance or part of the balance every month choose the card that offers benefits for both the repayment structures.
